For hotels, long-term storage of linen is a very important task, as linen is one of the essential items in hotel rooms. Reasonable and scientific storage can extend the service life of the linen, reduce the loss rate, and enhance the economic benefits of the hotel.
Choose an appropriate storage location
The basic condition for long-term storage of bed linen is to select an appropriate storage location. First, ensure that the storage location is well-ventilated, dry and clean, and avoid moisture, dampness and mold. The humidity should be controlled at 50%-65%, to prevent mold growth; the temperature is recommended to be 20-25℃, as high temperatures can cause fiber aging. Secondly, avoid direct sunlight, as ultraviolet rays will accelerate fabric oxidation and fading, affecting the appearance. Choose a warehouse or storage room located in a shady and well-ventilated area to store the linen.

Store bedding set (bed sheets, pillowcases) and bathroom linens (bath towels, bathrobes) separately to avoid cross-contamination. New linens and laundry to be washed need to be strictly isolated. It is recommended to use different colored labels for distinction. Folding and packaging methods. Use standard folding sizes (such as the three-fold method for bed sheets), which is convenient for counting and reduces wrinkles.Choose breathable non-woven fabric or cotton bags as packaging materials. Plastic bags are prohibited (as they tend to accumulate moisture)
Regular cleaning
Before storage, check whether the linen is clean and undamaged. Stained linen should be returned for washing separately. When handling, wear clean gloves to avoid contamination by hand sweat. Before storage, ensure that the linen is completely dry. Unused linen should be ventilated and turned over at least once a month. Long-term stored linen is prone to getting damp and moldy, losing its elasticity and luster. Therefore, hotels need to regularly expose the stored linen for airing to keep it dry and clean. The duration of the airing should not be too long to avoid damage from sunlight. Usually, it is sufficient to air it once a month.
Through the above measures, the lifespan of the linen can be maximally extended (usually 3-5 years), while ensuring the hygiene and comfort for the customers. If the hotel is large in scale, it is recommended to introduce a digital management system(RFID) to track the status of the linen.
